Shriners Hospitals for Children commissioned architect SRG Partnership to assist in the development of the new Shriners Hospitals for Children Medical Center in Lexington, Kentucky.

Designtex and Polyvision worked alongside SRG to create a safe, fun and colorful environment for the children and teens at the new 60,000 square foot facility. Combining the performance attributes of CeramicSteel, state of the art digital printing technology and graphic design expertise, Polyvision and Designtex provided decorative wall cladding throughout three stories of the modern facility.

A total of 85 digitally printed panels were combined to create 12 unique murals situated in corridors, waiting rooms, entry vestibules and elevator cabs. By combining elements of the Kentucky landscape, along with original illustrations by artist Christopher David Ryan, the art-walls add an element of nature, transforming a health care system into a giant visual playground.

Arvada Ridge Commuter Rail Station

In Arvada, Colorado, passengers have a unique opportunity to embrace the city’s agricultural history and promising future when walking past the “Chromatic Harvest” mural set in the Arvada Ridge Commuter Rail Station.

Digitally printed on 105 Standard steel cladding panels, the mural artfully tells the story of Arvada’s mission to continue progressing, holding true to its long-standing commitment to nature. Along the rail station walls, this theme of movement is conveyed visually in a lenticular fashion, with the images of crop fields and vibrant colors shifting as the passengers walk by.

RE:site’s artistry and the installation expertise from Metalab contributed to the masterful design ─ which amplifies as the passengers move closer and discover the minute shapes and colors that help illuminate the work of art. Polyvision and Designtex are proud to provide a durable surface and printing technology that gives the Regional Transportation District of Denver a piece that will inspire passengers and the entire city to keep moving forward, together.

Adler-Alpika Servis Tunnel

We partnered with Bautrade & Front Engineering to provide smooth, durable Flexible 3 wall panels for the main road tunnel of the new traffic corridor built for the 2014 Winter Olympics in Eastern Europe.

This new transportation route serves as the primary passenger artery for the games, combining railway and road traffic. It extends nearly 48.2 km (30 miles) from Adler Alpica, where the airport is located, and leads into the mountain ski resort Alpika Servis.

The Art of Metro Brussels

Brussels, the capital city of Europe, is home to many artistic treasures. The city exhibits its commitment to a more liveable and enjoyable urban environment for everyone by integrating art into the metro system.

The artwork is inspired by the idea that art can improve the quality of life for locals and visitors by transforming these public areas. The goal is to develop more lively and interesting public areas that foster a sense of community and improve commuters’ daily experiences.

As a producer of Ceramicsteel, also known as enameled steel, Polyvision is employed in a wide range of creative and architectural applications. Regarding this subject, the Brussels metro system contains several famous pieces of artwork built from our CeramicSteel material. Over the years, we have contributed to improving the visual and cultural diversity of the city’s public spaces, resulting in a more motivating and interesting environment for everyone, by giving designers and artists strong and adaptable canvasses to work with.

Straightforward, whiteboards are incredibly versatile tools. And the main attraction of the tool is right in the name. A whiteboard surface continuously offers a fresh white slate, ready for new ideas, drawings, lists, and schedules.

But what happens when a whiteboard no longer stays white?

Mostly, when walking into classrooms, offices, or homes, you’ll see whiteboards that look slightly worn, with remnants of the last lesson or meeting erased but still reflecting on the board.

The process for how to maintain a whiteboard’s peak performance is a simple, inexpensive, and quick practice. Still, many owners aren’t aware that erasing content isn’t enough to keep a whiteboard clean.

Follow the six whiteboard tips and tricks below to keep your board looking brand new or transform one that has seen better days back to its original shine.

Follow the maintenance instructions
This first tip may seem obvious, but people often need to pay attention to it when using a whiteboard. PolyVision is a world leader in producing white and chalk CeramicSteel boards for various environments. And our scientists at PolyVision say the number one way to keep a board looking new is to read the maintenance instructions before ever writing on the surface.
Use erasers and cleaning solution.
While erasing works wonderfully at first, its effectiveness wears off if more cleaning isn’t done. “Occasionally, we’ll receive a question about boards becoming more difficult to erase over time,” says Becky Lewis, a customer service representative for PolyVision.

When the customer is asked if they’ve ever cleaned their board, they’re often surprised that it must be done to maintain performance. Cleaning the board with a recommended solution always solves the issue of erasability with CeramicSteel.”

Remove whiteboard ghosting
If only erased, chemical from whiteboard markers builds up and forms a residue on the board. This residue causes a gloss difference on the board between unused areas and areas where the content was written. The gloss difference causes “ghosting” or outlines of previous work even after erasing.

To remove ghosting, wipe the board with a cloth dipped in a mix of isopropyl alcohol and water — the most effective whiteboard cleaner.

Homemade whiteboard cleaner
Again, a mix of isopropyl alcohol and water is the best solution to clean a whiteboard, but various other options work just as well.
Using a cloth moistened with whiteboard cleaner is enough to keep a board clean if used every week. Warm soapy water, window cleaner, and peroxide also work well.

Note: Avoid wax-based cleaners as they leave a pesky film on the whiteboard.

Clean the whiteboard frequently
Depending on the use of the board, it should be cleaned at different frequencies. When a teacher writes on the board all day, the board should be wiped daily with whiteboard cleaner. In the office, many teams keep notes and schedule up on a board for some time, making erasing and cleaning every day a hassle. In these instances, the content should be erased and the board cleaned before rewriting the content again at least once a week.
How to remove permanent marker
Worry may set in if you realize a permanent marker was used on a whiteboard, but don’t fear; even a permanent marker can be removed. Trace the permanent marker content with a dry-erase marker, erase it, and you’ll find a clean slate due to the non-polar solvent in dry-erase markers. Any cleaners mentioned above also contain organic solvents like 2-butoxyethanol that can help erase permanent pigment.
