As you walk down the hallway of Demey towards the suburbs, you’ll notice a unique display of photographs and grey metal panels. These panels showcase “miniatures végétales,” which are microscopic images of plants that only exist in photographs. In 2004, Bob Verschueren was asked to contribute 12 pages to a book on gardens. He chose to focus on the leaf, which is a quintessential element of gardens.
His goal was to show the leaf as a sculpture without adding anything to it, but by only altering its shape. After finishing the 12 photographs for the book, he continued his visual exploration, playfully challenging the sculptural art of all natural elements. By folding, rolling, or cutting leaves and twigs, he offers a fresh perspective on the plant world.
