The Heizel metro station, also known as Heysel metro station, is located in Brussels, Belgium. It is situated near the iconic Atomium and serves as a convenient transportation hub for visitors to the Heysel Plateau.

It includes several prominent attractions, such as the Brussels Expo, Mini-Europe, and the King Baudouin Stadium.

One notable artwork at the Heizel metro station is “An open book about the 20th Century, a Contemplation of Time and Space from a human point of View”. Created by the Belgian artist Jean-François Octave.

The artwork consists of a series of monumental pictures in a 98-meter-long mural covering the metro station. These compositions, made on enamel steel, also tackle words and ideas linked to Brussels as a capital city, such as important data, places, and events in the Heysel neighborhood.

The artwork intends to bring a sense of global unity and diversity, emphasizing the interconnectedness of different cultures and societies.
It serves as a visual reflection of the international character of the Heysel Plateau, which hosts various international events, exhibitions, and sports competitions.
