Abrasion Resistance

Built to Withstand Friction and Wear

Abrasion resistance is a crucial performance metric for materials that experience constant contact, friction, or mechanical action. CeramicSteel’s remarkable resistance to abrasion ensures it retains its integrity and appearance, even in the most demanding environments.

ABRASION TEST

Test Overview

To assess the abrasion resistance of CeramicSteel, we conducted a mechanical wear test following ASTM C501 standards. The procedure involved the following steps:

  • Utilizing S 33 emery paper with a weight of 1 kg.
  • Performing 1,000 revolutions to simulate extended exposure to friction and mechanical contact.

After the revolutions were completed, we measured the material’s mass loss, which clearly indicated its durability.

Test Results

CeramicSteel exhibited minimal mass loss, measuring less than 0.10 g after 1,000 revolutions. This exceptional result demonstrates the material’s ability to resist wear and maintain its surface quality over time.

Why Abrasion Resistance Matters

A material’s capacity to resist abrasion significantly affects its durability and appearance. CeramicSteel’s exceptional wear resistance ensures it remains attractive and functional, even with regular use, minimizing maintenance and replacement needs.

Applications

  • High-Traffic Areas: Withstands daily cleaning and scrubbing, making it a low-maintenance option for kitchen backsplashes that stay looking new.
  • Public and Commercial Spaces: Ensures durability in schools, hospitals, and offices.
  • Industrial Settings: Provides long-lasting performance in environments where mechanical wear is common.
