Named after the city square above ground, De Brouckère Metro is a Brussels Rapid Transit Station that consists of both a metro and premetro station. Connecting these two stations is a 103 meter long moving walkway cladded in imaged PolyVision CeramicSteel. Designed by Jan Vanriet, the artwork entitled “The city moves in the palm of my hand” is a contemporary piece that merges several themes together, incorporating the liveliness of the colorful city that lives above the metro station and the story of the city’s historical past. The decorative walls were printed on Finished Edge panels using ceramic inks and fired in the range of 700 – 900 °C, allowing both the product and the image to withstand heavy traffic environments and maintain the integrity of the artwork.
