Telok Ayer Station
Telok Ayer | Singapore
Telok Ayer station is one of twelve recently remodeled on the Bukit Timah path. With hundreds of commuters moving through the station every day, it is imperative that the product used can withstand heavy traffic while also connecting travellers with their surroundings. The artist Ms Lim Shing Ee designed the artwork of Telok Ayer, which means “bay water” in Malay, to celebrate the history of the area. Named “Charm of bay” the artwork uses abstract forms inspired by plantations and elements of water, each pointing or relating to the next as if passing on a tale about the past. The artwork, which will never fade, was handcrafted using the screen printing method by Polyvision imaging experts on a3 CeramicSteel and installed by Polyvision’s partner, Ceramic Steel Alliance.
