Our Story

1954
Early Days

Light-gauge porcelain-enameled steel surfaces were produced for architectural applications and chalkboards.

1963
Encouraging Innovation

An AllianceWall employee discovered the potential of CeramicSteel as a dry erase writing surface and production of CeramicSteel for whiteboard applications began.

1971
Global Presence

The manufacturing facility and office in Genk, Belgium was established.

1975
Made in the USA

Polyvision's expansion led to a new manufacturing facility in Okmulgee, Oklahoma, USA.

1984
World's First

Polyvision began production of the world's first 5' width continuous coil line.

1987
Expanding Options

A 4’ coil line was installed at the manufacturing facility in Oklahoma, USA. In the same year, Polyvision's proprietary screen-printing process for porcelain enamel was to the writing surface and architectural markets.

1992
Growth-Oriented

Polyvision acquired a family of companies including global leader in CeramicSteel manufacturing, Alliance International.

2001
Major Acquisition

Polyvision was acquired by Steelcase.

2006
Sustainability

Polyvision became the first Cradle to Cradle Certified CeramicSteel manufacturer.

2008
Polyvision DevelopsTechnology

Polyvision launched their proprietary eno surface and the eno interactive whiteboard—the first and only environmentally-certified board on the market.

2012
Polyvision Sells Technology

The Polyvision Technology division merged with Steelcase Education Solutions to allow full focus on the world class quality of surfaces products & customer experience.

2015
Digital Printing

Polyvision's Surface Imaging capabilities were enhanced through new digital printing technologies in Genk, Belgium.

2015
Teach for India

Polyvision launched donations to Teach for India, providing whiteboards and chalkboards to under-resourced classrooms.

2016
Collaborative Design

Polyvision partnered with Designtex to create bespoke collaborative solutions.

2018
American Academy Jordan

Polyvision facilitated the expansion of American Academy Jordan, donating 200 whiteboards to the school.

2019
Design Award Winners

Polyvision received the Red Dot design award and the Good Design award for Motif™, an innovative markerboard wall system.

2019
Architectural Partner

Polyvision partnered with Gordon Inc, a metal architectural systems manufacturer, to provide durable engineered wall solutions.

2020
New Ownership

PolyVision was acquired by Industrial Opportunity Partners.

2020
New Acquisition

Polyvision acquired Marsh Industries.
